Being bullied or abused is hurtful, scary and confusing. When violence is aggressive and physical, it can be dangerous.  When it’s emotional – like name calling, or cyberbullying – it’s easy to feel alone, helpless, powerless and afraid to tell anyone. Domestic violence, also called domestic abuse, includes physical, emotional and sexual abuse in couple relationships or between family members. Domestic violence can happen against anyone, and anybody can be an abuser.  Violence like this can affect health, confidence, and self-esteem. You do not have to wait for an emergency situation to find help.

Trauma has a significant impact on a person’s mental health and plays an important role in addiction. Many recovering addicts don’t identify themselves as trauma survivors. However, therapists at Boca Recovery Center are trained to recognize trauma and guide the recovery process with a trauma-informed approach.

Trauma is anything that overwhelms or threatens an individual’s sense of safety. The definition of trauma varies from person to person. A forgettable incident for one person can cause a lifetime of haunting memories for someone else. For example, some children get over their parents’ divorce without any long-term consequences, whereas for others it is a traumatic experience with lifelong repercussions. Trauma can be a single event or a series of events over time.

Get in touch with us  (855) 637-1331 to find out how Trauma Informed Therapy can help.

In the United States, over 553,000 Americans are homeless, 40 million people struggle with hunger, and 40.6 million officially live in poverty. Many individuals and families need short-term stabilization before they can find housing that will meet their long -term needs. There are many organizations and non-profits that assist the homeless. We list types of homeless assistance including emergency shelters, clothing assistance, food assistance vouchers, social services organizations, dental assistance, housing assistance programs, medical assistance, and a range of support services including eviction prevention, emergency services, transitional housing and permanent affordable housing.
